RESIDENTIAL LIFE PROGRAM
St Andrew’s College aims to enhance personal growth, development and academic success by providing opportunities for students to achieve academic excellence in a safe, comfortable residential environment. The College seeks to educate, challenge and develop each student to lead lives of contribution and meaning.
Over recent years St Andrew’s College has become a community that supports and celebrates inclusiveness and diversity. However academic and professional success continues to be seen by students as an individual endeavour rather than one that is enhanced by residing at College. The Residential Life Program seeks to encourage and empower students to place academic and professional excellence at the centre of the College experience on equal footing with all other activities and endeavours undertaken while resident at St Andrew’s College.
In order to achieve this, over the next 3 to 5 years, St Andrew’s College plans to introduce the Residential Life Program. Advantages - why choose College and why St Andrew's...
• At St Andrew's College you will be living within a community of scholars and you will make friendships with many other students from diverse backgrounds (city/rural, international, all faculties and disciplines of study).
• St Andrew's offers evening tutorials in all major subjects, within College (no charge); College libraries available.
• Academic and personal support from residents (College Principal, Chaplain, academic staff, tutors, senior students in your faculty).

• All meals supplied; furnished individual serviced study bedrooms (phone and voicemail, free internal calls, Internet access all rooms); all heating, computer room access, laundry.

• Junior Common Room with TV, Foxtel, billiards, etc., subsidised photocopying, fax facilities.
• Access to former College residents for career advice, direction and contacts.
• Furniture supplied, no shopping bills; College is 37 weeks/year residence (most landlords require 52 weeks contract).
Disadvantages - some points to keep in mind...
Whilst living in a residential college, success at University requires self-discipline. For some, community living may result in excessive socialising. It is necessary for each person to establish the correct balance between "work" and "play" in this liberal environment.
Some College expectations concerning reasonable conduct apply, as in any community living.
As you can see, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages!
