The St Andrew’s Women’s Netball team have won the 2011 Rosebowl Netball Competition undefeated in all of their games!
Round 1 saw the Andrew’s women succeed against Sancta with a final score of 89 to 8. In Round 2 the game against Women’s saw a tough start but Andrew’s finally reigned supreme winning 48 to 23. Round 3 was the scheduled bye for Andrew’s, followed by Round 4 in which Andrew’s played John’s. Rain threatened to disrupt but ultimately did not stop the match which saw another victory for Andrew’s. In Round 5 last night Andrew’s scored a convincing win against Wesley to claim Rosebowl Netball victory yet again.
The overall strength of the team was of a very high calibre and allowed the reserves to see maximum game time. Three senior girls, Greta Beale, Sophie Holdstock and Maddie Bird have now played for the past three victorious years and bring a vast amount of knowledge, experience and strength to the team. There were also valuable contributions from the four freshers in the squad who we hope will go on to form the backbone of the team in years to come. Outstanding coaching continuity and guidance of alumna, Sarah Cowan, who has coached the team to success since she left College in 2007 helped produce this great result.
Congratulations to the Women and their fantastic success.
