Andrew’s Women Win Rosebowl Hockey 2011
19 May 2011The St Andrew’s Rosebowl Hockey team have prevailed in a tough competition to win the 2011 title undefeated.
The first round saw Andrew’s victorious over Sancta quickly followed by a victory over John’s in round two. St Andrew’s next match was against Women’s who had previously performed very well and ended very closely with The Drew’s Women edging one goal ahead to claim the win.
In the last match of the competition yesterday a true final was gallantly played out between Andrew’s and Wesley to determine the overall winner. To share top billing Wesley needed to defeat Andrew’s but this was looking unlikely after a scoreless first half. In the second half of the match Drew’s scored first which was quickly answered with a Wesley goal. Defence reigned supreme with the final score a 1 all draw meaning St Andrew’s claimed victory in the competition.
Congratulations to the Drew’s Women - all of the hard work they have put in certainly paid off in the results for 2011!
The fantastic Hockey victory and resulting points mean St Andrew’s is now ahead of their closest rival, Women’s College, by 13 points in the overall 2011 Rosebowl competition.
