Vale Alec Shand QC

29 July 2011

The College was sad to receive the news that Alec Shand QC, a fresher in 1949, passed away on July 7 2011.  Alec studied law and became a successful barrister, a true all rounder who rose to prominence in several noted cases.  He represented the third generation of the Shand family to serve at the Bar.

During his time at St Andrew's Alec played cricket and rugby and was nicknamed "the Young Ox".

Our sincere condolences to the Shand family for their sad loss. Alec is survived by his wife Lorraine, a daughter and three sons.
