The St Andrew's College Lecture takes place in August each year. It is dedicated to an accomplished former resident of the College, is delivered by a prominent member of the wider community and it focuses on contemporary social issues.
The 2008 Inaugural lecture was dedicated to the late, great H V (Doc) Evatt and was delivered by Justice Michael Kirby to a capacity audience in the College Chapel on 14 August 2008. Justice Kirby spoke about H. V. Evatt's life at St Andrew's College, Sydney University and beyond, and about Human Rights then, now and in the future.
On 13 August 2009 the lecture again attracted a capacity crowd and was dedicated to the distinguished Andrewsman, Sir Percival Halse Rogers. It was delivered by Mr Nicholas Cowdery AM QC, Director of Public Prosecutions for NSW, and entitled An Australian Bill of Rights? Is Australia doing enough? To view photos from the night click here.
