Natalie Matias Receives the Jean Bogan Youth Prize

Postgraduate Natalie Matias has been awarded the 2012 Jean Bogan Youth Prize.

The prize, which is open to composers under 25, went to Natalie for her Suite for Piano.

Natalie has been a Drew’s resident since 2012 She is currently studying for her Masters of Music (Composition) by Research at Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

“I applied last year for the competition with a work that I had written for a friend and pianist Jacob Abela. The two of us collaborated on the piece in its final stages, editing and tailoring the work,” Natalie says.

Her work will be performed along with two other prize winners on the 5th of September at the Newcastle Conservatorium concert hall.

The College congratulates Natalie on her success.
