Rosebowl Hockey took place at Cintra Hockey Complex throughout weeks 10 and 11 of Semester 1.
The St Andrew’s hockey team, consisting of fReshers, sophomores and Heavies, worked hard in preparation for the campaign and were more than ready for the first game to hit off. The girls were off to a roaring start, defeating Sancta Sophia 12-0 in their first game, with goals scored by many debutants in the team.
Andrew’s faced St John’s in the second game, with only one night to recover following the victory over Sancta. After defeating Wesley following the full time whistle in their first game, John’s were determined to put some goals away, bringing with them a rather large and vocal crowd. Unfortunately for them, the crowd was not enough and the small but enthusiastic Drew’s support helped the blue and white walk away with a 2-0 win.
With a few days to recover, the next opponent was an underestimated Women’s team. After a 0-0 half time score, the Drew’s girls came out in the second half with great ball movement across the pitch and put a few goals away to win 4-0. With the results throughout the campaign, the Drew’s girls needed a draw or win to seal the deal and gain an almighty VD. With a sea of Wesley Wowzers lining the fence, the Drew’s team stayed focused and played some fantastic hockey. With a 0-0 scoreboard at half time, the hard fought match resulted in 0-0 at the final whistle and an overall victory for the St Andrew’s Rosebowl Hockey Team.
Congratulations to all the girls and thanks to those who came and supported!
