Androvians win CBA Global Markets Case Competition

Androvians Stirling Hutchings and Jayden Soedirdja recently won the inaugural CBA Global Markets Case Competition (held virtually this year).

The competition was open to university students across all years within Australia. 150 groups of 2-4 members entered into the case study competition where they competed virtually in 3 rounds. The purpose was to ‘step into the shoes of the CBA Global Markets team and solve a real-life scenario that they face every day.’ Creativity, problem solving and analytical skills were in high demand, with students from diverse disciplines encouraged to participate.

Preliminary Round: All registered teams were required to submit a presentation via email addressing the prescribed question within a week.

Heat Round: After the presentations were reviewed, 15 teams advanced to this round where they were asked to present our findings to a panel of judges. Each team was provided with 10 minutes of uninterrupted presentation time and 5 minutes of Q & A.

Final Round: Out of the 15 groups that made it to the heats, 3 teams were chosen to progress to the final round. Finalists presented to a different panel of judges from CBA’s Global Markets team followed by 10 minutes of Q&A time. The judges included the likes of the Managing Director of Commodities and the Executive Director: Global Market Structuring.
