St Andrew’s at the SUSF Awards

St Andrew’s College had a magnificent showing at the recent 2021 SUSF Awards.

Both nominations for the prestigious Sydney University Sportsman of the Year for 2021 were Androvians. The winner was Rohan Browning (Fr 2016) currently the fastest man in Australia, and the first Australian male to qualify for the 100M sprint since 2004. During last year’s Tokyo Olympic Games, Rohan ran a 10.01, the fastest 100 metres ever by an Australian at the Olympic Games. Also nominated for this award was alumnus Jack McCalman (Fr 2014), current Student Representative of the Sydney University Football Club who captained SUFC 1st Grade to an undefeated 2021 season.

Alumna Hannah Buckling (Fr 2010) was nominated for Sportswoman of the Year for 2021 following her win of this award in 2020. Her Olympic debut was at Rio 2016 in the Australian Women’s Water Polo Team and the team was awarded 5th place in the Tokyo games.

St Andrew’s was also well-represented amongst the perpetually named scholarship recipients of the night:

  • Mollie Dive OAM (Hockey) – Sorita Pho (Fr 2022) for Hockey

Two Senate Awards for Outstanding Academic Achievement were awarded to Drew’s students, Ashley Dribbus (Fr 2019) for Soccer and Lucy Mauviel (Fr 2020) for Athletics, as well as two Business School Joint Awards (Undergraduate) to Daniel Breden (Fr 2020) for Rugby and Charles Dummer (Fr 2018) for Cricket.
