Androvians shine in Elite Athlete Scholarships

Many Androvians would agree that balancing studies with sporting commitments requiring intense training and travel can be challenging; but pursuing excellence in both can be especially daunting.

So we are delighted to announce that St Andrew’s students represent more than 22% of the Elite Athlete Program (EAP) Named Scholarships this year. This remarkable percentage continues a trend of excellence in high performance over recent years.

The EAP was founded in 1991 by Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness (SUSF) to support student athletes to achieve both their sporting and academic goals.

A total of 26 Scholarships have been awarded to St Andrew’s students. Principal Wayne Erickson said:

“We are delighted to see St Andrew’s College commitment to sporting and academic excellence recognised in these prestigious awards to our athlete scholars.”

The scholarships also provide access to a range of services and the support of specialist staff. Financial awards and travel grants are a well-recognised benefit, but often academic assistance and flexibility with attendance and assessment tasks around sporting commitments are even more important. SUSF’s world-class facilities, wellbeing services, career and networking support as well as high performance strength & conditioning, sports dietetics and performance psychology make up the EAP package.
